SHE RIDES - A DAY FOR WOMEN RIDERS
Share
Learning to ride as a woman, or sometimes just setting foot in a motorcycle store can be a really intimidating experience. You don't always feel like you know what you're doing and you don't want to ask a question you think could be seen as "silly". But most women have the same questions when they start to ride – Will the bike be too heavy? Can I lower a motorcycle? What gear is available for women riders? And none of these are silly questions at all! Throughout the last 6 months House of Motorcycles has had a heavy focus on working hard to ensure women have a safe space to learn, get their gear and feel part of a community. We have asked for opinions on gear, what you want to see throughout the riding community for women, and how can we help.
So we revamped our Ladies Night and created "SHE RIDES" Torque and Tech Day, a workshop created for women to learn! It was an afternoon focused on building confidence, learning new skills, and gaining a better understanding of motorcycles in a relaxed and supportive environment surrounded by likeminded women.
From brand-new riders through to experienced motorcyclists, it was fantastic to see so many women come together to ask questions, get hands-on in the workshop, and learn directly from our experienced team.
The afternoon featured a wide range of practical workshop sessions led by our service, parts, and sales departments, covering everything from basic pre-ride checks and tyre health through to suspension setup, servicing insight, electrical systems, and motorcycle customisation. Ladies also had a chance to learn safe lifting techniques should they need to pick up a bike, and learned some tips and tricks on how to ride tall bikes along with stopping and starting techniques – because we truly believe anyone can ride any bike with confidence and practice!
Some of the key topics covered throughout the day included:
- Simple pre-ride inspection routines
- Oil checks and fluid inspections
- Brake condition and safety checks
- Tyre wear, pressures, and puncture repair
- Chain maintenance and drive systems
- Suspension setup and ABS basics
- Battery health and electrical systems
- Understanding warning lights and ride modes
- Service intervals and workshop diagnostics
- Parts, accessories, and motorcycle customisation
Our team also gave the ladies insight into the differences between OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and aftermarket parts, common maintenance mistakes riders should avoid, and how professional servicing helps keep motorcycles performing safely and reliably.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was the live dyno demonstration inside the Richardson's Harley-Davidson dyno room, where guests were able to see firsthand how motorcycle tuning works and learn what a dyno is used for.
A Huge Team Effort
The day was really a huge team effort between both House of Motorcycles and Richardson's Harley-Davidson. A special thank you goes to Paige for leading the welcome and helping guide the day, as well as all of our technicians, service advisors, parts staff, and sales team members who contributed their time and knowledge to make the event such a success.
Events like SHE RIDES are all about creating a welcoming environment where riders can feel comfortable learning, asking questions, and connecting with other women who share the same passion for motorcycling.
Thank You to Everyone Who Attended
We would like to sincerely thank all the ladies who attended the workshop and helped make the day such a fantastic event. We hope everyone walked away feeling more confident, informed, and inspired for their future rides.
From the workshop sessions and live demonstrations through to the BBQ lunch, lucky door prizes, and bikes on display, it was an amazing afternoon with an even better atmosphere.
We are already looking forward to the next SHE RIDES event and can't wait to welcome everyone back again soon.
